Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum
If you want to see one of the biggest collections of surprising and unusual things in the world, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not in Williamsburg Virginia is the place to do it! Founded by notable eccentric and travel enthusiast Robert Ripley, this museum contains all kinds of wonders, from the exotic and old to more modern, popular culture related artifacts like a giant Transformer and a model of the Star Wars Millenium Falcon that weighs in a a thousand pounds.
As well as over 350 fascinating and jaw dropping exhibits, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not in Williamsburg also has some great interactive features, like its famous “4D” movie experiences. Offering two different shows included in the admission price for the museum, a 4D movie is a 3D on screen movie that also has special effects that take place in the theater, meaning that you get to experience simulated wind, rain, even snow as it features in the movie.
There is also a fun and challenging laser race feature where you try and make it through an obstacle course full of laser traps.
As you would expect, the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not museum also has a really interesting gift shop, where you can buy and take home all kinds of interesting books, toys, models and projects relating to the things you can see at the museum.
During the peak summer season, which spans from the start of June through Labor Day, the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum is open from 10am to midnight seven days a week. The rest of the year the hours are 11am to 6pm Monday through Thursday, 10am to 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 10am to 7pm on Sundays.
Admission to all features and exhibits (except the laser race which costs $2.50 per race) costs $22.99 for adults and kids over the age of 13, and $19.99 for children aged 5-12. Under fives can go for free, however all children under 13 must be accompanied by a paying adult.
