Meredith L. Shaw
President, Clan Shaw Society Worldwide

The board of the Williamsburg Scottish Festival is delighted to extend a welcome to an old friend as the Guest of Honor for this year’s games, Meredith L. Shaw, President of the Clan Shaw Society. A founder of his clan society and long time supporter of the Williamsburg Scottish Festival and Celtic Celebration, Meredith is representing John Shaw of Tordarroch, 22nd Chief of Clan Shaw.

Born and reared in Baltimore, Maryland, Meredith attended Baltimore Community College and graduated with a baccalaureate degree from The University of Maryland at College Park.

He is a veteran of the US Army during the Korean conflict and subsequently joined the Central Intelligence Agency. After 38 years he retired as a Senior Intelligence Officer.

In 1983 he was one of five founders of the Clan Shaw Society and has held the office of president since the inception of the society. Further, he is a member of the Clan Chattan Association, the Clan MacKintosh of North America, the Clans of Scotland – USA, and the Celtic Society of Southern Maryland. In his non-Scottish associations, he is a member of the Association of Former Intelligence Officers, the Retired Federal Communicators, the Retired CIA Cryptographers, and the American legion.

He is the father of four sons and four daughters. Further, he is licensed as a Liturgical Eucharistic Minister in the Episcopal Church, USA.

Of particular interest to attendees of the 2008 festival is that this event will commemorate the 25th anniversary of Clan Shaw Society’s founding at the Williamsburg Scottish Festival. Consequently, the Williamsburg Scottish Festival and Celtic Celebration is delighted to welcome Meredith L. Shaw as the Guest of Honor for this year’s games and to honor Clan Shaw as this year’s Honored Clan.
